Buzz Music and Arts and Dance Workshops for Young People

We are pleased to share Buzz Music and Arts’ HAF workshop offer, featuring a range of music and dance sessions. All activities are inclusive, suitable for different ages, and led by experienced facilitators.
Drumming – Discover Rhythm and Energy
Children will explore rhythm through body percussion and a variety of drums and instruments. This practical session encourages creativity, movement, and shared music-making.
Handbells and Boomwhackers – Colourful Percussion Fun
Using vibrant Boomwhackers and handbells, children will develop rhythm skills, work together, and experiment with musical ideas. They’ll play simple tunes and enjoy making music in an accessible and relaxed environment. No experience required.
Ukulele – Beginner Group Jam
These beginner-friendly sessions introduce children to the ukulele, helping them learn simple chords and strumming patterns. They’ll play together, build confidence, and enjoy the experience of group music-making. No prior experience needed.
Getting Brassy – Introduction to Brass Instruments
This hands-on workshop gives children the chance to try a real trumpet, learn how sound is produced, and play alongside professional brass musicians. No previous experience necessary.
Film Music Workshops – Create a Movie Soundtrack
Children can dive into the world of film music by creating their own soundtrack to a classic children’s movie or cartoon. Using instruments, percussion, body percussion, and sound effects, participants will explore how music brings stories to life. Each session includes composing, experimenting with different sounds, and working together to build a unique piece of music.
Dance Workshops – Move, Groove, and Express
Children can choose from Tap/Body Percussion, Charleston, or Musical Theatre styles. Each session includes learning a choreographed routine and exploring movement and rhythm creatively. These workshops run on selected dates and are ideal for children who enjoy expressive and active sessions.
Pencil Shading: Drawing a Realistic Garden Bird
In this lesson, we will learn how to use a range of pencils to create different tones, values, and textures. Exploring shading techniques such as blending and cross hatching, we will develop observational drawing skills while creating a realistic drawing of a garden bird.
Recycled Bird Sculptures Inspired by Michelle Reader
Inspired by environmental artist Michelle Reader, we will create imaginative bird sculptures using a variety of recycled materials. During this fun and creative session, we will explore construction techniques, texture, and design while considering how everyday discarded objects can be transformed into unique works of art.
Clay Robin Relief Tiles
Using air drying clay, we will create a robin. We will explore texture, pattern, and mark-making by pressing both natural and man-made objects into the clay. This hands-on session will develop sculpting skills while encouraging creativity and observation of the natural world.
Expressive Watercolour Birds Inspired by Sarah Stokes
In this workshop, we will explore the expressive watercolour techniques used by artist Sarah Stokes. Learning how to layer washes, blend colours, and create loose, flowing marks, we will produce our own simple yet beautiful bird painting inspired by her vibrant and atmospheric style.
